Hello darlings. A few months ago I wrote about one of my favorite new bands, City Bird.
In that post I promised to do a giveaway of their debut EP when it became available, and that time has come. :-) Last weekend they had an album release show to celebrate this momentous occasion, and it was truly one of the coolest concerts I've ever attended. The setting was unique and very, very cool: the rooftop patio of Jinah's house in Larchmont Village, complete with twinkle lights, beer and cupcakes. The three (great!) opening bands played out there, but when it came time for City Bird's set, we all moved inside. They wanted their set to imitate their acoustic rehearsals, which looked like the below video (except in Jinah's living room instead of an elementary school classroom).
They played all 6 songs on the EP (including the one in the video) and a few crowd-pleasing covers. I honestly love their album... I've been listening to it nonstop (my favorite song is #4 "Always Love"). Even if Jinah wasn't one of my dear friends, I would absolutely love this band. They are so GOOD.
Now, here's how YOU can win a copy of this amazing CD. Just leave a COMMENT here and tell us what band you've been loving lately. :-) I'll use random.org to select a winner next Tuesday, 11/8.
And, if you're in LA, City Bird has a show at El Cid in Silverlake (4212 W. Sunset Blvd.) TOMORROW (Tuesday, 11/1). They are scheduled to go on at 9:00 (21+ to enter). It's only $8 (which includes a copy of the CD!), you'll see a thoroughly enjoyable performance, AND you'll get to hang out with me. Basically, I think this should be in your game plan for Tuesday.
Don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win the CD! Looking forward to seeing what you've been listening to lately. :-)
xoxo,
Annie.
My go-to jam right now is Role Model by FreeSol ft. Justin Timberlake. Not only is the love of my life (longest relationship I've ever been in) featured on about 50% of the track, but it's a fun song to start a Friday night.
ReplyDeleteI've been jamming to Discovery. I wish they would tour! But I love hearing new music, so I want to get my hands on City Bird!
ReplyDeleteI've been listening to Rihanna We Found Love. Every time that song comes on I just get sucked into it and the video is pretty intense too.
ReplyDeleteI like to listen to Sounds Under Radio, the Cold War Kids, and The Airborne Toxic Event.
ReplyDeleteI have been listening to and loving the sound of babies laughing, crisp leafs falling to the pavement, and dolphins joyously diving through the surf. Also, Nicki Minaj's Super Bass. The explicit version. Where she swears REAL hard.
ReplyDeleteWe're actually on at 9pm!! (They just changed set times on us, BOOOOOOO!) :)
ReplyDeleteps Annie ROCKS!

you MUST listen!
This week I am very into M83. Like, obsessively listening to Midnight City every second. Not that I'm eligible for this contest... just fyi.
ReplyDeleteI have been listening to an audiobook so I doubt that qualifies me since you did say what band. However, at church this morning I determined to break out the awesome holiday CD my cool former neighbor and current worship leader at Grace Fellowship gave us last Christmas--Waiting for Christmas by Wayne Kerr. (I just want to win because I love Jinah!)
ReplyDeleteThe Tune Yards! Saw them last week at The Music Box. Loved the venue too. I bought the LP but it turned out to be just a single =(
ReplyDeleteOutasight... the Pepsi commercial song that goes "Tonight is the night is the night, we're losing control." Makes me dance. ;)
